http://www.meetup.com/NoVANerds/events/96619732/

Click the link and join the meetup!   Please rsvp and exchange info if you will be attending.  MAGFest is an awesome experience, but it's even better in numbers.  And if anyone in attendance might want some extra friends to game (tabletop or arcade), rock out/dance, discuss panels, or even party with, speak up and we'll all share a good time! FACT: You never know when you're going to need a fourth ninja turtle or dance partner. There isn't a better weekend to meet new people than MAGFest. Hope to hear from and see you all soon.

MAGFest, The Music And Gaming Festival, is an annual event in the Washington D.C./Virginia/Maryland area dedicated to the celebration of video games and video game music. Each year, MAGFest offers 24-hour console, arcade, and PC game rooms, over twelve live video game cover bands, a vendors area, and guest speakers from the video game industry and fan scene. It also features a "JamSpace" available to all attendees for impromptu music performances. Numerous other events are scheduled each day. The 11th annual Music And Gaming Festival, or MAGFest 11 for short, is scheduled for January 3-6 2013. What makes MAGFest unique is that it's an event run by fans for fans. There are no corporate sponsors, no over-crowded showfloors, and no top-secret-behind-closed-doors showings. MAGFest is built from the ground up to be a party-like atmosphere with focus on community and fan creations, which creates an environment that no other expo or convention can ever recreate. SUPER ART FIGHT RETURNS TO THE OTTOBAR WITH JAPANESE PUNK ROCKERS PEELANDER-Z Four years, over 60 live events, and faces melted up and down the east coast - since their inception in June 2008, Super Art Fight has proven to be one of the most unpredictable, hilarious and jaw-dropping events in live entertainment, and on Friday night, September 21st, 2012, they return to Baltimore's Ottobar! Self-described as "The Greatest Live Art Competition in the Known Universe", Super Art Fight mixes some of the nation's greatest artistic talent from the worlds of graphic novels, apparel design, illustration, tattooing and webcomics and puts a unique spotlight on them, allowing them to become over the top, ridiculous characters. This fusion of improv art, creative competition and pro-wrestling style storytelling is a truly unique art form and no two shows are alike. Each artist is given a starting topic to draw, and 25 minutes to out do their opponent, but every five minutes, a wrench is thrown in the gears, as the crowd-sourced "WHEEL OF DEATH" provides new topics for each artist. At the end of the bout, the live audience chooses the victor via their cheers and applause, battle of the bands style. On Friday night, September 21st, the Ottobar will be home to four bouts, featuring some of Super Art Fight's most beloved talents, such as defending Super Art Fight Champion Brandon J. Carr, the villainous TEAM IMPACT, the fashionable Team Sexyfulness and the creative creature herself - Stompadon! All bouts are hosted and commentated upon by Marty Day and Ross Nover. If that wasn't enough, that evening Super Art Fight will be host to not one, but two musical acts - the amazing openers, NOISY ZEN, providing some of the weirdest and most fun rock covers you've ever heard, and headliners, PEELANDER-Z, a Japanese action-comic punk rock band! Last time Super Art Fight and Peelander-Z combined forces, the Ottobar came dangerously close to capacity, so we highly recommend getting tickets in advance! Tickets for Super Art Fight's return to the Ottobar are on sale NOW at MissionTix.com for just $15. The show card is currently being announced at SuperArtFight.com, and attendees are encouraged to submit topics for the "WHEEL OF DEATH" on SuperArtFight.com prior to showtime. The Ottobar is located at 2549 N. Howard Street in Baltimore, Maryland, zip 21218. All show talent is available for press inquiries, and the official show poster is attached to this email. Super Art Fight can be found on the web at www.superartfight.com, and on Twitter @SuperArtFight. Meetup with some of your nerdy brethren!

Some new updates for ya!  Just started a Meetup group  NOVANERDS!  So now, not only can ya get the latest info on all these fun, nerdy events, you can meet some of the folks that share the same passion as yourselves.  The event calendar on the meetup page will have notes about things happening in your area, and actual meetups for the events I will be attending personally.  Right now I'm looking for a few good members to share this service with friends and become active in the NoVANerds community so that we can have a "One Stop Shop" for the nerd culture in this area.  Dont forget to like our FB page or follow @novanerds for the latest details.  See ya around friends!  Cheers!

Quick Event Calendar

Quick Event Calendar

Just a few upcoming nerdy events.  Do yourself a favor and read up on Bitgen GamerFest.  It will be coming up June 30 and should prove to be amazing!  I had a conversation with the drummer from Rare Candy some time ago, and he promises that it's an awesome time.  At $20 for ten bands and video games, that's a heck of a deal.  Well anyways, take a look at the calendar, I know its not much right now but I am working on it.  If anyone has an event or suggestions for the calendar, please lemme know!  Also, check out NoVA Nerds on Facebook.

Fresh

Hey everybody!  (Hi NoVANerd!)  Finally have my new place all set up with internet now.  Will be keeping calendars of events and updates as they come in soon.  Also, I will be posting, if not podcasting, reviews or overviews of shows and what have you, so that those who have not been can make an informed decision if its something they might find fun and would like to attend.  Thanks!
