Super Art Fight returns to The Ottobar March 30!

Super Art Fight Celebrates Five Years At The Ottobar, Saturday, March 30th!

2013 has been very good to the roster of talent known as Super Art Fight.  They've played to capacity crowds at two of their favorite conventions, Katsucon and MAGFest. They've headed west, performing in Los Angeles and San Francisco. They sold out their debut show at the Black Cat in Washington, DC - and on Saturday Night, March 30th - the Greatest Live Art Competition in the Known Universe returns home to the Ottobar in Baltimore, Maryland to celebrate five years of inspired insanity!

Way back in 2008, two artists, Jamie "Angry Zen Master" Noguchi and Nick "Ghosfreehood" DiFabbio faced off one-on-one in the upstairs room of the Ottobar in something they called an "Art Fight".  Mixing audience participation and live art created on a giant canvas, it grabbed audiences attention from the word go, and five years and dozens of shows later, the show - now known as Super Art Fight descends once again upon their home venue, featuring a cavalcade of live entertainment.

The goal from Day One was for Super Art Fight shows to have a variety show appeal, and it's personified perfectly with the lineup for March 30th.  You have standup from comedian Jim Meyer, best known locally for his appearances on the 98 Rock Morning Show and his weekly City Paper column "Spitballin'".  You have a live musical performance from Baltimore's own Egg Babies Orchestra, celebrating "Movie Show V", featuring unexpected covers of songs from classic cult films sure to delight.  And most importantly, you have an absolutely stacked card of what SAF does best - their trademark art fights.  A mixture of live art, pro-wrestling style characters and storytelling and improvised commentary, there's truly nothing else like it today.

On tap for the March 30th Ottobar appearance are the following bouts:

  • Super Art Fight Idol 2012 winner ASH SKETCH'EM takes on the nearly extinct STOMPADON!
  • It's a battle of kindness vs. capitalism as THE NICEST TEAM IN ART FIGHT (Brandon J. Carr and Red Erin) face off with THE BUSINESS NINJAS ("Charm City Shinobi" Dann Malihom and "The Business" Henry Alexander) in tag team action
  • The SAF TAG TEAM TITLES are on the line as SILENT APOCALYPSE (Bryan "Silent But Violent" Prindiville and Darl "Apocalypse" Gnau) defends their titles against the sinfully sexy TEAM SEXYFULNESS (The Baron and Dutchess Von Sexyful)
  • And in the big main event, we go back to where it all began as SUPER ART FIGHT CHAMPION Jamie "Angry Zen Master" Noguchi tackles the canvas against the time-lost rocker GHOSTFREEHOOD

If that wasn't enough, the card will feature hosting and commentary from Marty Day and Ross Nover, and live DJs The Megadrives.

Tickets for the event are on sale now at MissionTix.com for just $15 (direct link: http://www.missiontix.com/events/product/16428/super-art-fight).  As the last three area Super Art Fight events sold out, we HIGHLY recommend picking up tickets before showtime!

Doors for the Super Art Fight event on March 30th will open at 8pm, with the show starting promptly at 9pm.  The Ottobar is located at 2549 N. Howard Street in Baltimore, Maryland, Zip 21218.  Parking is conveniently located in the back of the venue.

For additional details on the nights event, Super Art Fight can be found online at SuperArtFight.com - the Ottobar's website is TheOttobar.com.

All talent for the evening are available for interviews, and any questions or concerns should be directed to superartfight@gmail.com.  A copy of the evening's event poster is attached to this email.

MAGFest, The Music And Gaming Festival, is an annual event in the Washington D.C./Virginia/Maryland area dedicated to the celebration of video games and video game music. Each year, MAGFest offers 24-hour console, arcade, and PC game rooms, over twelve live video game cover bands, a vendors area, and guest speakers from the video game industry and fan scene. It also features a "JamSpace" available to all attendees for impromptu music performances. Numerous other events are scheduled each day. The 11th annual Music And Gaming Festival, or MAGFest 11 for short, is scheduled for January 3-6 2013. What makes MAGFest unique is that it's an event run by fans for fans. There are no corporate sponsors, no over-crowded showfloors, and no top-secret-behind-closed-doors showings. MAGFest is built from the ground up to be a party-like atmosphere with focus on community and fan creations, which creates an environment that no other expo or convention can ever recreate. SUPER ART FIGHT RETURNS TO THE OTTOBAR WITH JAPANESE PUNK ROCKERS PEELANDER-Z Four years, over 60 live events, and faces melted up and down the east coast - since their inception in June 2008, Super Art Fight has proven to be one of the most unpredictable, hilarious and jaw-dropping events in live entertainment, and on Friday night, September 21st, 2012, they return to Baltimore's Ottobar! Self-described as "The Greatest Live Art Competition in the Known Universe", Super Art Fight mixes some of the nation's greatest artistic talent from the worlds of graphic novels, apparel design, illustration, tattooing and webcomics and puts a unique spotlight on them, allowing them to become over the top, ridiculous characters. This fusion of improv art, creative competition and pro-wrestling style storytelling is a truly unique art form and no two shows are alike. Each artist is given a starting topic to draw, and 25 minutes to out do their opponent, but every five minutes, a wrench is thrown in the gears, as the crowd-sourced "WHEEL OF DEATH" provides new topics for each artist. At the end of the bout, the live audience chooses the victor via their cheers and applause, battle of the bands style. On Friday night, September 21st, the Ottobar will be home to four bouts, featuring some of Super Art Fight's most beloved talents, such as defending Super Art Fight Champion Brandon J. Carr, the villainous TEAM IMPACT, the fashionable Team Sexyfulness and the creative creature herself - Stompadon! All bouts are hosted and commentated upon by Marty Day and Ross Nover. If that wasn't enough, that evening Super Art Fight will be host to not one, but two musical acts - the amazing openers, NOISY ZEN, providing some of the weirdest and most fun rock covers you've ever heard, and headliners, PEELANDER-Z, a Japanese action-comic punk rock band! Last time Super Art Fight and Peelander-Z combined forces, the Ottobar came dangerously close to capacity, so we highly recommend getting tickets in advance! Tickets for Super Art Fight's return to the Ottobar are on sale NOW at MissionTix.com for just $15. The show card is currently being announced at SuperArtFight.com, and attendees are encouraged to submit topics for the "WHEEL OF DEATH" on SuperArtFight.com prior to showtime. The Ottobar is located at 2549 N. Howard Street in Baltimore, Maryland, zip 21218. All show talent is available for press inquiries, and the official show poster is attached to this email.
